About Okoumé Timber

Also called Gabon, Okoumé is a hardwood found in Central African forests. The heartwood is pink to light brown, and the trees are about 100-130 feet (30-40 meters) tall and have a 3-6 feet (1-1.8 meters) trunk diameter. The grain of Gabon wood is usually straight but can also be wavy or slightly interlocked. The texture is medium. Okoumé timber has low durability and resistance to insects.
